Welcome to the Ursula Wolcott-Black Swamp Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR).  In 1998 the Ursula Wolcott Chapter, NSDAR, (organized 1895) and the Black Swamp Chapter, NSDAR, (organized 1928) merged into one chapter.

The over 50 members and associate members come from all over northwest Ohio, including Toledo, Bowling Green, Lorain, Pemberville, Portage, Maumee, and Perrysburg.  Each member can trace her lineage to a Patriot of the American Revolutionary War.

The chapter embraces the National Society’s mission of promoting historic preservation, education, and patriotism.  Activities cover a mix of patriotic and historical education, public service projects, genealogical research, and social activities.

Meetings are held the second Saturday in October, November, December, March, April, and May, and the second Saturday in June and September.  No general meetings are held in January, February, July, or August.

Historic Preservation

Our chapter supports the state preservation of the Waldschmidt Homestead through regular monetary contributions.  Members help DAR transcribe documents for the genealogy database.  In our own chapter, we are digitizing thousands of old DAR applications so that our local history materials are preserved.

Education

We have members who volunteer in local classrooms.  Our chapter has sponsored applicants for the Ohio "Wings of Eagles" Scholarship.

Patriotism

Our members participate in citizenship ceremonies and grave markings for Patriots. We also support the northwest Ohio ROTC programs.
